Cheap home decor - coffee tables and side tables

Do we really need to use coffee tables for coffee tables? I'll tell you a secret - I really, really do not like classic coffee tables, they're huge, they're clumsy, and we collect so much rubbish on, in and around them. Well, here are some alternatives to use as your coffee table. These all could be found objects (so the cost would be 0$), or second hand find.

1. Old drums. Sounds crazy, right? Well, this particular solution for side table made me write this post in the first place. i think it looks just great!

2. Old wine barrels. I know you're used to seeing this stuff in rural ambient taverns and similar spaces, but there are also barrels of  smaller size that could work great in living rooms. You can also find small wine barrels with closed top.

3. Old wooden crates. Here are two examples of this cheap do-it-yourself idea, that's also eco-friendly.

4. Old trunks. You can even keep some things inside the trunk, but make sure it's not something you need often, because it's a bit tiring to remove all the stuff from the top of the trunk every day just to get your pen or something.

5. Natural wood. Logs can be used as coffee table or side table. You can keep them natural, as in the first picture, or paint them to match you design, as seen in second picture.

6. Pile of magazines. Yes, it can not work for everyone, but I thought to share it, just in case someone can pull this out in their home. Old books could be used in similar manner.

7. Timber coffee tables. If you're crafty enough you can make your own timber coffee table for just a  few bucks. They look well in traditional and shabby chic interiors, but also could work in some modern interiors.

8. Old doors. Recycled old doors can make beautiful coffee tables. Just check this out.

9. You can always remake an existing coffee table. And..

10. You can combine few different coffee tables, for example - old trunk and a few logs. That looks nice.

Cheap home decor - shabby chic bathrooms

Few days ago I wrote about shabby chic bathrooms, and now I'd like to share some cheap and beautiful shabby chic bathroom decor ideas.

1. Handmade soaps, bath salts, oils etc. could be used like a very cute display in a shabby chic bathroom. There are many to buy online, or in your local handmade shops.


2. Vintage perfume bottles, soap dishes, etc.


3. Beach inspired decor like starfishes and shells. Shabby chic is white, remember! :)


4. Candles, lanterns and flowers.


5. Vintage signs for bathroom decor.

Cheap home decor - candle holders

Trying to think of cheap candle holders? Maybe make it yourself candle holders? Well, I hope this list of cheap or easy to make handle holders ideas will help you!

1. Old bottles can be used as chic candle holders. Finding some vintage bottles would be even better!


2. Old miss matched glasses or tea cups can be great as tea-light candle holders.


3. Old jam jars can be used as tea-light holders. You can even make them prettier with rice paper, decoupage... .


4. You can also make a hanging jar for tea-lights.


5. Old metal cookie molds can be used as tea-light holders.


6. If you have any power tools you could try making some wooden candle holders. They look very natural. You could also try paint something on the wood.


7. For floating candles you can use plates, bowls, glasses or aquariums. Add some fresh flowers, too. You could also put some river stones on the bottom.


8. Use old tin cans as candle holders. You can punch them to create some nice decor. Place the empty tin on a pillow filled with rice and punch it using hammer and a nail.

Cheap home decor - shabby chic kitchens

I wrote about shabby chic kitchens few days ago, so I thought it would be nice to list few really cheap shabby chic decors for kitchens. You can find many shabby chic decorations in thrift shops or on flea markets.

1. Cute and miss matched tea cups, plates, etc.. They would cost you few bucks, and maybe you even have them on hand. :)


2. Spices, jams, spaghetti... in nice glass jars. Imagine these on some wooden open shelves.


3. Vintage signs as wall decor.


4. Fresh flowers, fruit.


5. Distressed furniture or decor.


6. Wall paint. Choose white or soft pastel colors like beige, pale teal, pale lime green, pale mustard, etc. Grey and distressed black are also fine, if applied to smaller surfaces, like one wall.
